Leadership is a group feature that directly impacts on team identification. Effective leaders are especially capable of fostering group cohesiveness and promoting efficacy in goal attainment. We assessed the relationship between transactional and transformational leadership style, team identification, and leader self-sacrifice. Case study of a Finnish training program for Chinese school principals

Quality leadership training has a positive effect on school leaders. Although there is an increased interest in overseas training for educational leaders in China, little is known about the leadership practices and professional development of school leaders. This study explored Chinese school principals’ perceptions of leadership practices and professional development after undertaking a Finnish training program in October 2011. The data were collected by semi-structured interviews from six Shanghai principals and analyzed by inductive content analysis. Think transformational leadership – Think female?

This study examines whether the behaviors of transformational, transactional, and laissez-faire leadership are perceived as being more typical of female or male leaders. In a questionnaire study, 113 participants in Germany were asked to rate the probability of occurrence of a specific leadership behavior for male and female leaders, respectively. A diagnostic ratio for each leadership behavior allows the determination of the direction and degree of gender-specific evaluations. This study contributes to the literature on the supervisors’ role in employee well-being by drawing on two separate lines of research: transformational leadership and organizational justice. The purpose of the study was to investigate the unique contributions of transformational and fair leadership (justice behaviours of supervisors) on work engagement and exhaustion among employees within the framework of the Job Demands-Resources model (Bakker and Demerouti, 2007).
